Historic Monte Vista, located just a mile and half north of downtown is San Antonio’s original “suburb”. Monte Vista is comprised of 14 neighborhoods, 100 city blocks and is home to about 3,000 residents. Listed on the national historic register, Monte Vista came to be in the 1890’s.
Adjacent to Monte Vista, is the city of Olmos Park, home to 800 single family homes ranging in price from $450,000 and up. The business district in this area has charming boutiques, retail shops and popular local restaurants.
Across 281, are the incorporated cities of Terrell Hills and Alamo Heights, along with other popular 78209 neighborhoods including Manhke Park, Terrell Heights and Northwood. This area is centrally located to shopping, including Lincoln Heights and the Alamo Quarry Market.
Alamo Heights Independent School district which services much of this area is a strong school district and sought after by many local buyers and renters. Two of San Antonio’s seven universities- The University of the Incarnate Word and Trinity University are located in this part of town.
You can reach both the airport and the downtown area in about 10 minutes and is minutes from Fort Sam Houston and Brooke Army Medical Center. Most of the homes in this part of town were built from the early 1900’s until the 1960’s and prices for homes this area vary with size and condition as well neighborhoods within the area , but in general homes in the area are above the San Antonio median, and you could expect to spend in the mid $200’s to well over a million dollars on a home in this area.
